I grew up in an entrepreneurial household, and from a young age watched my mom invest in getting all her business suits tailored so that she could look her best for meetings. Clothing that fit well was a big focus for me as I grew up, having things that made me look and feel my best so that I could put my best foot forward into the world. As I grew into my own style I really struggled to find clothing that fit well and was made well. While studying Sustainable Economics at NYU I became obsessed with the idea that we should be making clothes that have less impact on the planet in a wide range of sizes. The more I talked to my peers about finding clothing that fit well the more I realized that all women struggle to easily find pants that fit them well. I have still yet to find a woman who has not had a hard time finding pants and has been happy with the end result (and I have talked to more women about pants than I can count).After college, while doing research in the tech and manufacturing space, I came to realize that the problem was a lot bigger than what the consumer was experiencing, the problem was an industry issue around manufacturing and data models for sizing. The way we make clothing is messed up, and companies and consumers are suffering because of it. So I set out to change that by starting my company Mackey’s. We are a sustainable pants company, for Gen Z and Millennial Women, focused on individual fit with a customizable shopping experience. Long term, we are utilizing the direct-to-consumer relationship to build a better informed data model around sizing and innovate the manufacturing process, with the vision of bringing scalable customization to market. I am passionate about creating a company that helps women feel that their bodies not only belong but are celebrated. I am also passionate about creating industry-wide change around sizing, sustainability, apparel production, and manufacturing. At Mackey’s we are celebrating our differences and working to make a positive impact, for our customers and for the manufacturing industry.I am here to make connections and learn.
