Space Resources Program

• Conducted experiments, analyzed data and prepared progress reports for the NASA SBIR Phase II program MMOST (Moon to Mars Oxygen and Steel Technology). MMOST is an integrated system that can enable the production of metallic iron or steel and oxygen from lunar regolith, thereby providing a strong support for the exploration and development of the Moon.• By conducting the experiments, analyzing the outcome for the processes: physical particle size sorting, electromagnetic regolith beneficiation, materials handling, hydrogen reduction, electrolysis, and melt-refining to produce metallic iron and oxygen products with minimized power requirements – I identified errors and proposed solutions to successfully finish different stages of the program.

• Valuable experience of living and working in extreme conditions at various stations around the world was used to improve the ground experimental space station and prepare for the next experiments with isolation for 8 and 12 months. • Responsible for crew recruiting, mentoring and guiding during the preparation for space isolation experiments. Supported space mission by choosing the applicable equipment, clothes and space food menu, according to the hardship of isolation. • Maintained the equipment and life support systems of the ground experimental space station during 24 hours shifts as part of engineer on duty for SIRIUS-21experiment. - - Created required environment in the space station analog for the equipment testing for digital company customer. Tracked the parameters of the artificially created environment in the ground experimental space station.• Attracted new collaborations with international and local organizations, such as Mars Society, IKEA, Samsung and etc. • As an official organization representative I participated in variety of interviews across multiple media channels about space experiments conducted at IBMP broadcasted all over the world. It increased IBMP credibility and brand awareness. • Often invited to be guest lecturer to some of the most prestigious universities around the world including USC, Oxford University, Cambridge University, London Institute of Physics. Participated in the space delegation with cosmonaut to visit president of Serbia. • Moderated round tables at Humans in Space Symposium 2021, organized by Russian space agency and IBMP under the auspices of International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), to discuss fundamental problems and practical issues, exchange the research results and ideas in space biology and medicine.

Crew member in research program “SIRIUS19” to simulate the conditions of a manned expedition to the Moon with isolation of the international crew in a ground-based experimental space station. The international project "SIRIUS" – (Scientific International Research In Unique terrestrial Station) is carried out jointly by the IBMP RAS and NASA HRP. Documentary movie https://vimeo.com/524636296 • Selected for the main crew and successfully completed the 120-day isolation experiment SIRIUS 19, performing the duties of mission specialist by conducting more than 80 experiments. As part of crew journalist documented the mission progress, wrote articles about unique experience and perception from inside of the isolation.• Professionally perceived the hardships of everyday life during the isolation experiment. When stressful situations arise, continued to work calm and concentrated. Demonstrated a broad outlook and worked well in a team. Had high sense of responsibility for the assigned work and the desire to constantly improve knowledge, skills and abilities.

Mars 160 mission simulated the conditions of a manned expedition to Mars with the isolation of the international crew at stations in the Utah desert and on Devon Island, Arctic. During the course of two 12 week missions, the crew conducted a sustained program of geological, paleontological and micro-biological field exploration while operating under many of the same constraints that human explorers on the Red Planet would face. The team also carried out Mars-relevant engineering research, testing biomedical tele-science, spacesuit technologies, EVA traverse strategies, astronaut cross-training in the field and habitat technologies. By so doing, the crew helped advance humanity’s knowledge of how to explore on the Martian surface. http://mars160.marssociety.org/ • An extensive training in first aid and rescue, as I has completed over 50 volunteer missions as a part of SpasReserve (a Social Search and Rescue Detachment in Moscow, Russia), made my skills invaluable when it comes to living in isolated environment with such a small group of people. My work as a skilled journalist built the awareness of the mission around the world and my journalist articles inspired people to participate in Mars analog missions. • As assistant to microbiologist, I showed the ability of fast learning and performing quality work without an appropriate background. The main duties were: sample scouting, conducting the experiment on extremophiles and supporting the crew biologist in any work related issues. • Responsible executor of the research program of the Institute of Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences (conducting a series of tests and methods) aimed at studying the psychological state and group dynamics in the crew.
