My passion is processes that honor the environment and boost the local economy. I seek out responsible projects with a strong sense of mission. I have vast experience working in both fast fashion markets and eco-design.I invested years researching ancestral techniques and developed eco-formulas to process natural fiber resources such as leather substitutes from the Shiringa wild rubber tree and sustainable leather from Paiche, an Amazonian fish, using an entirely traceable value chain. Each of my projects promotes women’s empowerment by increasing our female collaborators’ sense of self-worth, ability to make choices, and the right to influence social change in their community. Respect for women's fundamental human rights is key to achieving a more peaceful and prosperous world.Skills: Exceptional communication skills and the proven ability to drive sustainable product innovation and success.Creative, analytical, and highly accomplished Product Developer with extensive experience in Sustainable production, traceability, value chain, costing, and procurement.ana@thesakeproject.comaranataf@gmail.comwww.thesakeproject.com

Creative Director-FounderThe Sake Project Sep 2011 - PresentLima, PeruI am Ana Tafur, a Colombian designer and founder of SAKE and AMAZKIN, two projects that fuse sustainability, tradition, and innovation. My journey began in the fast-paced world of mass production, where I spent seven years managing large-scale operations in Shanghai, Vietnam, and Bangladesh. But in 2013, I left it all behind, driven by a deeper calling to create something more meaningful.Traveling through Latin America, I connected with Indigenous communities, learning their ancestral sewing techniques and immersing myself in their wisdom. These experiences gave birth to SAKE, a brand that blends ethical craftsmanship, sustainability, and cultural preservation. Based in Peru, we work hand in hand with local artisans, using natural dyes and Amazonian resins to create eco-friendly materials like vegetable leather, all while honoring ancient traditions.I also founded AMAZKIN, collaborating with native families from the Peruvian Amazon to create an innovative bio textile from the Shiringa tree. This material is more than a sustainable alternative to leather—it’s a movement toward protecting the rainforest, empowering communities, and reimagining fashion’s role in the world.Through SAKE and AMAZKIN, I strive to celebrate traditional craftsmanship, support local economies, and create a lasting, positive impact. My mission is to push the boundaries of sustainable fashion, staying true to the heart of our communities and the planet we all share.SAKE has a fair trade and good practices certification.SAKE has 2 shops in Peru and it is sold in Spain, Denmark, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy and the US.Skills: Fashion Design · Innovation Development · Business Development · Entrepreneurship · Sustainability · Product Innovation -
