I proactively researched food insecurity on Long Island and the various state and local programs that have been created to assist those in need; research conducted with mentor from Cornell Cooperative Extension. My research required that i utilized several databases to cross reference the different programs that other states and countries use in order to help combat food insecurity; routinely engaged organizations that address food insecurity to better understand their mission and services. This all led to me compiling my findings into a comprehensive research paper that may be used to help shape future legislation and policy.

Here i polled and interviewed New York residents regarding multiple education-themed issues including Regents exams, the effects of common core, the state and condition of New York schools and the affordability of higher education. I tracked and measured findings for potential influence on future legislation, Interacted with Hurricane Sandy victims to asses and prioritize damages to determine relief union fund allocation, and Utilized Excel spreadsheets to compile findings in support of the fund distribution process; performed administrative duties including entering information into database and filing.
