Action Research conducted by an Industrial PhD with the software vendor CSC Scandihealth (CSC SCA) from 2006 to 2012. The research reports on experiments with effects in various roles, supporting information systems development of clinical solutions, in a partnership between vendor and various customers from the Danish Healthcare sector. Four experiments were performed with clients of the CSC SCA. Effects were investigated regarding; specification and organizing requirements, realization of effects in prototypes and pilot solutions, challenges to learning taking technical and organizational factors into account, staging pilot implementations, and conducting measurements supporting formative and summative evaluation of effects.The first three experiments evolved the techniques and tools for an Effect Driven IT development method (EDIT), and the fourth were a full-scale proof of concepts applying EDIT to a system development project.Results and findings document benefits and challenges facing CSC SCA and its clients using EDIT.
