Member of the on-site leadership team (MTM) and responsible for Quality Control (QC) activities.The QC team consists of very talented individuals working in 5 groups: Analytical Leads, Systems, Starting & Raw Materials, Customer Projects/Validation and Contract Manufacturing and Generics. There are currently 9 direct reports - Managers and Senior specialists.The work is dedicated to leadership of the direct reports and change management, to secure the value flow, quality and employee engagement of the site in general and the QC Team in particular.

Main responsible for an approx. 4500 m2 site with 45 employees divided in two department:s Microbiology and Chemistry. We do batch release testing of all kinds of pharmaceuticals.

Main responsible for the site, including buildings, budget and 20 direct reports across two departments working on pharmaceutical release testing / QC and ecotoxicological testing.The main objective is to optimize the processes at all levels and grow the business.At a more detailed level this means recruitment, reorganization of staff, acquisition of new equipment, customer contact, rebuilding of lab premises and optimizing analysis processes in the lab for the benefit of both employees and customers.

Implementation of a metabolomics platform and research on biomarkers for diabetes-related traits and diagnostics.Projects:Implementation of a GC/MS based metabolomics platform at the medical factulty:This was the main project in the Ph.D. thesis. My primary contribution was the development of protocols for cells and blood (separate projects). Statistical experimental design/Design of experiments (DoE) was used for all steps in the development.Research on biomarkers for diabetes-related traits and diagnostics:-Studies on the metabolic regulation during an oral glucose challenge in human subjects. -Studies on the metabolic regulation in beta-cells (INS-1 832/13) subjected to lipotoxicity and glucotoxicity.-Studies on the acute to short-term metabolic response of beta-cells (INS-1 832/13) to a glucose challenge.All three studies utlized the above mentioned metabolomics platform and the data mining was performed using chemomtrics (PCA, PLS, OPLS (-DA)).The above work is described in the Ph.D thesis (defended on 2010-03-05) and in publications. Note: Nothing from the licentiate thesis is included in the Ph.D. thesis.Teaching: I taught basicmetabolism to M.Sc. students in biomedicine. It was based on "Problem-based learning (PBL)"

Studies on the application and development of flow field-flow fractionation (FFF) and teaching basic and advanced analytical chemistry to M.Sc. students in chemical engineering:Application of flow-FFF:One project aimed to determine the ribosomal activity in fed-batch cultures of E. Coli, while several projects aimed to determine the aggregation properties of frataxin and magensium chelatase.Development of flow-FFF:The first project aimed to evaluate the previously developed microfabricated micro flow-FFF channel (M.Sc. thesis).In the the second project a split-outlet channel for enhanced detection sensitivty was developed and evaluated. Part of this work is described in the licentiate thesis (defended on 2008-06-13).Supervisor of thesis work, 2005: Experimental evaluation of a novel flow field-flow fractionation channelTeaching:Teaching was performed in parallel to the Ph.D. studies and consisted mainly of laborations dealing with basic and advanced practical/theoretical aspects of analytical chemistry. It included: Liquid chromatography (HPLC), Flow injection analysis (FIA), mass spectrometry (MS), spectroscopy (AES, AAS), potentiometry, flow field flow fractionation (FFF), capillary electrophoresis (CE), Multi-angle light scattering (MALS), general chromatography, GC/MS, method validation and computer simulations of chromatography.

My main tasks were troubleshooting of computer hardware, software and networks. This was performed both by phone and on site.
