Anders Ekbom holds a Ph D in Economics (specialization Environmental Economics) from Department of Economics, University of Gothenburg. He is Deputy Director of Gothenburg Center for Sustainable Development, GMV at University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology. Currently he is Team leader of GMV’s Environmental Economics and Policy Group and Team leader of Sida’s Helpdesk on Environment and Climate change. He is also project leader of a research network on forests/bio-energy-climate and livelihoods (www.focali.se), researcher and lecturer at a masters course on Strategic Environmental Assessment at the School of Business, Economics and Law at University of Gothenburg, and lecturer and responsible for a Ph D course (From Science to Policy for Sustainable Development). Anders Ekbom is also:- Co-Program director for the Advance International Training Programme on Strategic Environmental Assessment- Team leader of Sida's Helpdesk for Environment and Climate ChangeBesides research and teaching I have collaborated since 1991 with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) in a long-term institutional collaboration to integrate environmental issues in Swedish development cooperation. Tools for the integration include Strategic Environmental Assessment and Environmental economics. At the World Bank I worked (1993, 1996-1998) as Environmental Economist in the Africa Technical Department with SEA and integrating environmental economics analysis and policy instruments in the Bank’s operational work in Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly the Bank’s Country Assistance Strategies. Recent work include methodology development and research within the World Bank Pilot Program on Institution Centered Strategic Environmental Assessment, including evaluations of SEAs of the Kenya’s Forest Sector reform and Malawi’s Mineral Sector reform commissioned by the World Bank.
