The position entailed close cooperation with and managemenet of the The Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) which is a government body sub-ordinated the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and fisheries. Taking part in international negotiations was a central part of my job. I attended meetings at the International Maritime Organization (IMO), EFTA and seminars/meetings related to the EU on a regular basis. At the IMO I was part of the Norwegian delegation to the Meeting of the Environmental Protection Committee (MEPC) and the Legal Committee. At EFTA I represented my Ministry in the Working Group on Transport where the main task of the group is to monitor the EU development on transport issues and the implementation of legal acts into the EEA agreement and subsequently into national law. At the ministry I was responsible for assessing appealed decisions issued by the NMA. The subject of appealed decisions concerned a broad range of the Norwegian maritime industry. I was also engaged as project leader for several projects in the Ministry.The position entailed close contact and cooperation with political leaders in the ministry. This included providing swift and accurate advice on maritime issues whenever needed.
