CurrentAnders is a shareholder who provides practical, results-driven counsel to businesses and other industrial entities operating in Wisconsin, guiding them through environmental permitting and licensing, land use and zoning, government relations, and compliance issues. He utilizes his experience to represent a diverse group of clients, including campgrounds, agricultural uses, frac sand companies, and other businesses in federal, state, and local permitting, due diligence, land use/zoning, site investigations, and environmental enforcement/compliance. Anders deals with the WDNR, EPA, DOT, OSHA, MSHA, DATCP, local zoning boards, and other government agencies. Representative work includes:• Obtaining unanimous zoning approvals for campgrounds against organized, large-scale opposition• Suing WDNR and obtaining dismissal and withdrawal of an order that attempted to shut down decades-old business with 60-plus employees in northern Wisconsin• Successfully siting and permitting a large-scale (1,000-acre plus) industrial frac sand mine, industrial processing plant, and rail transload facility• Negotiating unprecedented new benefits for municipalities and neighbors involving a decades-old landfill, obtaining a landfill height reduction, property value protection, and annual payments to neighboring properties, and increased payments to the town, city, and county• Representing an early-stage natural resource company with environmental permitting and due diligence during a $75 million private equity investmentHe also provides counsel to select local governments. Anders combines his experience with municipal, land use, and environmental law to provide those governmental entities with comprehensive legal advice including public records, open meetings, and other governance matters. Anders serves on the Board of Directors for the APPLE Pregnancy Care Center and is on the Board of Directors for Lowes Creek Baseball, where he coaches his son’s baseball team.
