Project lead developing and maintaining weather-prediction algorithms for the FAA. Combining data analysis, algorithm development, and machine-learning to improve the prediction of aircraft-relevant weather hazards for the FAA. Developing and testing weather-prediction algorithms that will ultimately provide weather forecasts for small uncrewed aircraft (drones), funded by NASA. Involved in development and testing of NCAR's GPU-accelerated LES weather model FastEddy.

Developed methods to assimilate weather data collected by drones to improve weather prediction, reducing forecast errors in temperature, relative humidity, and wind speeds by 40%. (https://doi.org/10.1175/MWR-D-20-0359.1).

Developed weather-prediction algorithms to improve snowfall prediction (https://doi.org/10.1175/JAS-D-16-0350.1). Algorithms are available in the community-developed Weather Research and Forecasting model (https://github.com/wrf-model/WRF) and Cloud Model 1 (https://github.com/NCAR/CM1).

Developed weather model algorithms to improve snowfall prediction. Imaged snowflakes in Utqiagvik, Alaska for Arctic climate research projects. Applied the machine-learning technique self-organizing maps to ozone observations from over the South Atlantic Ocean and related statistically significant increases in ozone to seasonal biomass burning (https://doi.org/10.1029/2011JD016573). Launched balloon-borne instruments at NASA Langley to measure ozone.
