As cell assay specialist, I am a key part of many of the company’s preclinical projects, and set up experiments to study both mechanism of action and proof of concept, but I also perform exploratory work to further increase knowledge of the different target molecules.In addition, my role has included e.g. setting up and being responsible for a new cell laboratory, purchasing and establishing a new technology platform at Medivir.I have been part in projects both in the field of virology and in oncology. The targets molecules I have worked on have mainly been proteases, and hence I am very familiar with studying proteolytic turnover of target proteins, but I have also worked on projects were the targets have been polymerase inhibitors. -

I was also part of a collaboration project exploring different aspects of a mutant form of the kinase JAK2, which causes myeloproliferative diseases like Polycythemia vera. -

Here I got the foundation for my practical lab training, and I learned how to work both analytically and independently. My work was focused on the regulation of cellular signalling cascades of phosphorylation and dephosphorylation events, and I used techniques like radioactive labelling, Edman degradation and Western blotting to monitor these phenomena in cell lines.
