Global responsibility for + 400 suppliers, delivering into 6 Vestas Converter and Generator factories. During this period it was one long organisational adjustments, due to many changes deriving from top management decisions. I have been organised in both separate business units (Vestas Control Systems 2011-2012), global sourcing organization (2012-2013) and group QSE function (from 2013-2014). An ongoing theme was to adjust the organisation to match the revised FTE budgets, which resulted in significant reductions in headcounts across all entities. My team was adjusted globally which resulted in layoffs In the US, DK and Germany. Hereafter the big task was to re-scope the area of responsibility, align with the new key stakeholders across the value chain, and then get the remaining part of the team up running and motivated again. An exercise where I gained some extremely valuable learnings on how to treat people, and at the same time securing business continuity during a crisis.Area of responsibility & tasks:Overall accountable for securing a high and stable quality level, from the suppliers delivering the materials and components to the Vestas Controls and Generator factories globally.In alignment with the factory quality managers, constantly optimizing quality processes, tools and procedures, to improve efficiency and quality level in the supply chain. E.g. introduction of automated torc tools measurement system, to secure full documentation and transparency on CTQ torc measures. Deployment of new quality tools, procedures, and processes across the value chain in close cooperation with global sourcing and manufacturing management.Development of people and organization to secure a high level of satisfaction, professional standards and efficiency. Responsible for safe and cost efficient introduction of new products and supply chain for new platforms, in cooperation with NPI and Technology organisation.Results:Reduced component cost with between 5-10 % on a yearly basisReduced lead time on 10 strategic suppliers from 30-60 days to 5-15 days by implementing logistical concepts such as VMI and Kanban.Developed a very non strategic and fragmented category team, back to a team with high team spirit and much higher focus on strategic initiatives.Outsourcing of all cable confection activities in our Vestas controls Lem factory, to a sub supplier in Poland, supporting both cost reduction and key competence targets.By changing the teams from an operational and task oriented approach, back to a strategic, and more focused approach, we managed to negotiate all critical Purchase Agreements over a very short period of time, to minimize business risks and optimize commercial points.Secured timely introduction of new products into both the V112 and the V164 platform. This to secure excellent operational performance.Responsible for Safety, Quality, Delivery, budgets, continuous improvements and CAPEX investment planning.Driving LEAN initiatives in production areas, e.g. Kanban, 5S, SMED, implementation of visual board management and VSM analysis.Acting as internal LEAN auditor across other Grundfos factories in both DK and rest of Europe, to facilitate knowledge sharing across the factories. Results:Optimized production efficiency on a yearly base with 3-5 %Successfully secured high delivery and quality performance continuously year on year.Improved cooperation between operators significantly in all my departments, by implementing a more modern approach to leading people e.g. higher level of trust and personal empowerment. But also securing that employees took that responsibility and removed the “free ride mentality” that were dominant in some of the departments.Further Implementation of the TQM philosophy across all departments, securing “by Inn” and ownership from all employees.Managed production areas across two factories, as the other factorie were lacking leaders, so I took up the challenge and gained a larger responsibility.
