I’m a mechanical engineer with responsibility for Termas SCANTER transceivers both below deck and upmast. Product responsibility is based on close contact with Technical Product Managers (TPM) as well as Commercial Product Managers (CPM).As a product responsible I do change management, design, root cause analysis and production support and non conformity tasks to facilitate production in Terma and at suppliers.Main tasks include parts design in sheet metal, plastics, aluminium and stainless steel parts for machining. Design tasks are performed in close contact with suppliers and in house production crew to ensure that the right part is designed in the right way for the correct task.During product development, close cooperation across the organization with regards to requirement specifications is an area that I see as a crucial part of defining new products. During development projects I usually have the role of Lead Mechanical Design as well as Tech Lead forming the bridge between the mechanical development task and the systems engineering task.Working with these roles has further increased my abilities to see beyond solution requirements and rather focus on functional requirements to achieve the correct product with as many degrees of freedom for the designers working on the actual design tasks.As my level of experience has increased, so has my understanding of processes that are necessary to achieve a certain quality and consistency in tasks performed in large companies. Working with processes is a crucial part of my every day as I continuously strive for increased efficiency in my work as well as for the entire business unit.During my time with Terma so far I have engaged myself in many side tasks including employee training, and configuration management. Currently I'm involved with process work within the mechanical engineering department as well as quality related tasks that span across the entirety of Terma.
