I possess a holistic understanding of the architectural, constructional, economic, and planning aspects of project development, from initial conceptualization to project delivery, encompassing sustainability.Curiosity is the driver and my understanding builts upon extensive national and international design and management experience across a wide array of project types, including residential, office, research and education, healthcare, industrial, agricultural, museums, theaters, aquariums, hotels, cultural and convention centers, as well as sports facilities.The projects span new constructions, renovations, and transformations, ranging from single-family homes to complex large-scale projects such as the Copenhagen Opera House, Nordea Headquarters Ørestad, and the Veterinary Building at Campus Ås southeast of Oslo. Similarly, my experience involves managing dialogue with clients, users, authorities, consultants, suppliers, and contractors.Since the presentation of the Planetary Boundaries Project by Rockström and colleagues in 2009, I have been deeply interested in the question of how the significant environmental pressures of our society, especially the construction sector, can be reduced to a safe sustainable level.The human pressure from demogaphy, agriculture, urbanization and transportation is now unfolding as a planetary emergency. It's obvious that changes to our practices, habits and traditions towards more holistic, interdisciplinary approaches are necessary. A sustainable building culture and a holistic cross-sectoral approach to planning is an urgent need if the 17 Sustainable Development Goals are to be realized.In this context, there are several questions that interest me: • How can a rapid decarbonisation of the construction industry be carried out?• How can reuse/transformation of the existing building stock contribute to environmental sustainability?• How can biogenic carbon-storing building materials be reconciled with sustainable agriculture and forestry?• What does a sustainable society/city actually look like when its spatial and functional relations to nature, resource catchments and supply lines are tanken into account?References:• A roadmap for rapid decarbonization.
