Hardware development for Phillips Medisize and Harman International

As main responsible for the development of the 4E product line, I was involved in everything from mechanical-, hardware- and software-design, over implementation and EMC/safety testing, to end-control and service backup. All these are preconditions to fulfil the requirements for class IIa medical devices (MDD).My focus was embedded and motor control; especially low noise and low torque ripple control of Switched Reluctance Motors, but also full system integration.Responsibilities:o Project management, managing the collaboration of three companies from Germany and Denmark and a number of freelance consultants in the project.o Motor control, especially switched reluctance motorso Electronic hardware: system design, PCSchematic (ECAD), 48V asymmetrical H-bridge for SR-motor, strain gauge amplifier, ADC, DC motor controller.o Build up prototypes, soldering (HMD/SMD) and simple mechanics. o Testing from prototype over product testing to end control in production. o LabVIEW embedded, especially Single Board RIO.o System integration o Medical approval, EMC, electrical safety, MDD class IIa o Production and service backupIn the years 2014 to 2016, we have been a part of the EUDP financed project “Compact Intelligent Portable Electric Drive system (CIPED)” together with a group of Danish companies and Aalborg University. The result of the project was a new, patented “Double U-core Switched Reluctance Motor”. Throughout the 9 years of running ePower Technology ApS, have I improved my skills in for example Finance, business strategy, customer care and supplier handling.

My job was mainly to design and develop hardware and software for a new Windows CE display platform for the eTenzor indoor cycling bike. The first prototype was ready for field test, just as the company ran out of capital and filed for bankruptcy.Another major part of my job was together with a colleague to rewrite and optimize the eTenzor bike motor controller C and assembler firmware on a Texas Instruments DSP.With my broad range of knowledge and ability to learn new skills, I very fast started to help in other parts of the organisation like production, mechanical testing, customer service and exhibitions.

During my 6 months in Broadsound Corporation, my subject was to implement Ethernet communication on their ultrasonic devices. Through that, I got to know all parts of the ultrasonic system, from beamforming on FPGA over prototyping to image generating from the output of the ultrasonic probe.
