International marketer and salesman for over 20 years, I have a clear understanding of today’s business climate and the importance of communication. Following marketing work in Stockholm, Sweden I was transferred to Germany, and in 1990 moved to the U.S. to open a regional sales office for an international manufacturing company in Chicago.I was an early adopter of video and started to create educational sales videos for the North American market, for distributors and end users on highly technical solutions. Shooting in very tight, loud live environments or during exhibitions with bad lighting and turning boring, loud manufacturing processes into exciting videos in the post production process was and is still challenging. Working with a small crew or by myself and communicating with non-actors is easy for me.Shooting VR, and the use of Augmented Video (AR) are new media branches are very interesting, especially AR, which we might benefit tremendously from. I have several ideas on how to adapt it, especially on mobile devices.Throughout my career I have always listened to people, and my mentors encouraged me to try new ideas and to be a trustworthy and helpful person. I’m also never afraid of asking for help. Video is becoming ubiquitous and is in everyone’s hands today, and delivery platforms are continuing to change. I sometimes refer to it to as “as big as the desktop revolution”. Video is a powerful tool and everyone can shoot video, which is great. I see myself having a role as a “video author”.Chicago Creative Pro User Group has been a tremendous resource to me, where I can contribute and learn about the latest in video trends and application features.I’m currently taking a master class in color grading by ColorGradingCentral and learning Fusion 9.I’m no stranger to camera, audio or lighting equipment, as I’m used to shooting on my own. Anders Utterstrom loves the possibilities that come with combining art and technology using photography and video. He applies new technology to his many ideas, and constantly studies to keep up on the latest trends and innovations. He loves stories, like the ones his grandmother shared about trolls and mysterious sprites living deep in the Scandinavian woods. A good photo or video starts with a compelling story, and comes to life using the equipment at hand. We live in a wonderful time, where technology is so powerful that you can take a snapshot or a short video of your life with a phone, and show it on TV with fantastic results, Add sound effects, narration, voice-over and music, and you might have a masterpiece.With a career in marketing and sales, and understanding today’s business climate he early understood the importance of communication. He worked in marketing in Sweden and Germany, and in 1990 opened the regional office for an international manufacturing company in Chicago.The involvement with video editing started early when it first became affordable and armed with a simple video camera product demonstrations, company presentations, events, manufacturing automation solutions and music videos were recorded, edited and distributed. When multi cam came along, 5 cameras were used to record a full evening of music at a venue in Chicago. A fantastic creative tool.Through “Shine On, Chicago!” Anders will provide education in video and effects, which becomes a very powerful tool to convey complex messages to audiences or potential clients. With the affordable tools available today, we will see great ideas come to life through many more in the next generation of storytellers!
