In February 2008, Akona Consulting was acquired by iSoftStone Information Service Corporation (NYSE:ISS), a global consulting, IT outsourcing and business process outsourcing company based in Beijing, China and with operations worldwide. With this acquisition, Akona became the US division of iSoftstone. In this role I was responsible for sales, delivery, operations, and a number of other strategic growth projects, and helped the US division grow from $7M to over $50M and from 40 employees to over 300 in five years. Additionally, I was part of the leadership team that helped execute a $140M IPO for the company on the NYSE in December 2010. In September 2012, I returned from living in Paris, France with my family where I led the iSoftstone European business.

After seven years at Microsoft, I co-founded an integrated software and services consulting company based in Seattle, WA focused on four key service offerings: research and strategy, creative and interactive design, project management, and application development. Akona Consulting was acquired by iSoftStone in February 2008.

As part of Mr. Brown's passion for the emerging digital music market, he drove the business development and operations support for Digital Musicworks, a Bay Area-based digital music distribution start-up which was acquired by Digital Music Group (NASDAQ: DMGI) concurrently with a $40M NASDAQ-based IPO. In September 2006, DMGI acquired Digital Rights Agency, and in November 2007 DMGI was itself acquired by The Orchard (NASDAQ: ORCD), which went on to expand global revenue to over $60M. As part of the work with DMGI, Mr. Brown was part of the leadership team that executed the IPO process as well as led the strategic operational planning and execution to grow the business.

From December 1997 through June 2004, Mr. Brown worked at Microsoft Corporation in multiple product management, business planning, and strategy roles. From 1997 through 2001 he worked in the Developer Tools Business Group (Visual Studio, etc.) helping drive new product introductions, execute technical marketing programs, and lead multiple business groups. From 2001 to 2004, Mr. Brown worked in the Information Worker Business Group (Office, SharePoint, etc.) helping drive overall planning and strategy for growth into new markets, which concluded with the launch of the Office Solution Accelerator program.
