Science has, since I can remember, been fun, that is no small part in my decision to major in Physics. However, there is an awe in looking down a microscope at diffusing molecules that the word 'fun' does not cut. Beyond fun, what I love about science is what says the most about me. Science is learning and exploration. Nothing excites me more than the prospect of learning something no human has learned before. I want to continue my journey in science and push my knowledge to the edge of human understanding so that I can contribute, in some way, to the collective human understanding of the world.Science is also an outlet for creating. My passion for creating has, throughout my degree and job experiences, manifested the most as a keen understanding of programming and code structure. I have worked programming and publishing WeBWorK physics questions to their public database, where I originally learned to program in a public, collaborative setting. Then bringing these skills further, I worked as a Data Entry Clerk, using excel and coding heavily in data management. This love of creation also has led me to pursue learning to draw and write creatively in my spare time! Stories have always been a passion of mine. During my undergraduate physics degree I learned that, to me, science has the beauty of a story. The feeling of figuring out something new of the world and finishing a good book are not so different. Science is the romantic curiosity in the story of life and the universe. Nothing could be more beautiful, or more personal.And, finally, I also love the world. I want to bring my expertise and personal perspective to help the world in some way, to give back to the people around me that have made my life so fun. There are few better avenues than science for giving back.My goal is to bring all these facets of who I am into one, to find a career where I can learn, create, feel the beauty of the universe, and give back to the world.
