When I am not working in Oracle I am working in my other passion which is music I currently work with many musical groups including the Washington Redskins Marching Band. As an instructor at Maryland National Parks & Recreation my job is to prepare lesson plans for public and private classes for different instruments, develop fundamentals within students in order to be accepted in schools, performances and organizations by teaching music theory. I collaborate with students and parents to set short term and long term goals and plans. I teach both children and adults of all ages.

At Maryland National Parks & Recreation my responsibilities were to provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support to clients on hardware and software issues. I would research and recommend installations of advance applications and anti-virus software as well as maintain end-users work stations, laptops, and electronic devices. In addition I would take the time to prioritize and escalate problems to Tier 3 level and followed up with the solutions while working on a ticket system and track help desk request by analyzing clients problems and providing long lasting solutions on hardware, software and network issues. I was also responsible for performing preventive maintenance at client’s offices, installing and upgrading hardware, software and configuring systems and applications.

At The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) for Washington DC My duties includes answering service desk calls and maintaining tickets through service desk ticketing system (Remedy), providing onsite and remote support, image and reimage computers, backup and recovery, manage, maintain and support networks, hardware, software, and other equipment including Lenovo, Dell, HP, Mac, Security Appliances, Wireless, Printers, Projectors, Smartboards as well as accounts such as Microsoft Office 365, Canvas, Aspen, Tip Web etc. Also, within my position I have been responsible for installing desktops, laptops, networks, printers, hard drives, and software. As a first responder I am also responsible with working with vendors from companies such as Sharp, Microsoft, HP, Dell, DCNet, Apple, etc. With The COVID-19 Epidemic my position has been 98% remote access only with limited access to the public. Currently our main role has been to manage accounts (Using Azure and Cayosoft), install and troubleshooting Microsoft Teams and Zoom, Installing operation systems on laptops, Mac IOS and desktops, Imaging and preparing laptops, Ipads, Chomebooks and Surface Go devices for staff and students, Configuring Office 365 on laptops, desktops, Android and Apple, Configuring VPN access(Currently Pulse Secure 9.1Rx), Hotspot, end to end security, software install, printer install, managing current databases for daily use. With small public access we have become heavily reliant on remote access using Beyond Trust (Previously Bomgar), Webex and Quick Assist and strong communication through Microsoft Teams.

As a Senior DBA at Jelani Consulting I am responsible for assisting in monitoring and maintaining many oracle databases in versions 10g, 11g and the current migration to 12c. In addition I am also responsible security, maintenance as well as backup and recovery by adding standby databases to current primary databases, monitoring daily logs to ensure any errors are corrected, using RMAN for backup and recovery and security using TDE encryption as well as patching oracle and sap oracle databases.

At Care First my responsibilities included monitoring daily logs to ensure any errors are corrected as well as backing up over 500 production databases with logging information for disaster recovery and development purposes. I was also responsible for gathering to retrieve statistical information to support database design decisions and ensure data integrity of production. As a DBA I would also maintenance and modify over 500 files covering multiple production and test systems, identify trends in reoccurring tickets and focus on resolving globally and I was also in charge of creating and maintain processes and documents pertaining to the managed workstation environment.

At the Midtown Group I was responsible for working as an Oracle DBA and assisting in monitoring and maintaining over 200 oracle databases in versions 9i, 10g and 11g. Some of my duties included upgrading databases to OID, migrating approved changes from test to production, monitoring daily logs to ensure any errors are corrected and installing patches as needed. One of my biggest roles was backing up multiple production databases with logging information for disaster recovery and development purposes as well as providing operational support to all other IT groups, to facilitate the ongoing needs of the business units as servers were added to the Data Center, assist the server team by installing SQL Server, creating databases, creating maintenance plans for backups, stored procedures, etc.
