A biomedical researcher with 10+ years’ experience, trained to solve complex biological problems in diverse disciplines. My expertise includes general tumor biology, tumor immunology and immune-oncology (immune checkpoints, cytokines, cell therapies), vascular biology, and molecular biology.I have studied most aspects of tumor progression, response to therapy, and developed and tested new drugs and combination of drugs. My focus has been on both tumor intrinsic targets, as well as components of the tumor microenvironment. Top achievements include winning the Merck KGaA Innovation Cup with a transformative idea on a new NK cell engager therapeutic for cancer. My research has led to publication of 20+ articles, 3 fellowships and 3 research grants.Key skills:• Cell biology (primary/immune cell culture, human PBMCs, co-culture, killing/functional assays)• Cell therapy (NK cells, abT and gdT cells)• FLOW cytometry (FACSDiva, FlowJo)• Molecular biology (WB, qPCR, ELISA, Lenti, cloning, si/shRNA, CRISPR, GPCR ID, Luc/GFP reporters) • Immunohistochemistry (standard and high content confocal). • Tumor models (in vitro, in vivo, ex vivo)• General (communication, cross-functional projects, leadership, mentoring, PRISM)To learn more about my experience, contact me at andersson.c.patrik@gmail.com

Scientist IiVelia May 2023 - PresentSan Diego , Ca, UsScientist II in team Discovery Biology• Led GPCR library build-out of >100 receptors and subsequent receptor identification efforts using binding/internalization and assays to capture signaling bias.• Established and optimized cell-based pathway reporter assays to screen >900 microproteins.• Developed CRISPR/Cas9-mediated knock-in strategies to detect endogenous microprotein expression.• Supported structure-activity relationship (SAR) campaigns by driving GPCR signaling studies.• Delivered mechanistic insights to inform program nomination decisions and presented findings to leadership.• Managed collaborations with CROs to achieve project milestones.• Supervised a Research Associate II in assay development and data analysis. -
Senior ScientistSorrento Therapeutics, Inc. Mar 2022 - May 2023San Diego, California, UsSenior Scientist responsible for target identification and validation, develop new biologics, assay development to test biologics and cell therapy drug candidates, and implementing general cell and molecular biology assays.• Spearheaded the establishment and operation of the molecular biology (cloning, Western Blot, ELISA), cell biology (immune cell expansion and phenotyping, FLOW), and confocal imaging cores. • Established 3 new targets for different projects, including small molecule approaches, antibody-conjugates, and cell therapies. • Developed 2 new SOPs for expanding and profiling gamma/delta T cells and NK cells for cell therapy projects. • Co-supervised and trained a research associate (RA). • Initiated, performed, analyzed, and delivered a package for a patent application. -
Postdoctoral FellowHarvard Medical School - Massachusetts General Hospital Nov 2017 - Mar 2022Worked on projects involving tumor cell targeting therapy and immunotherapies, especially from the aspect of the tumor microenvironment. • Designed and executed assays relating to tumor cells, myeloid cells, and lymphocytes. • Projects focused on primary tumors, brain metastatic tumors, and characterization of lymph nodes. • Leveraged my expertise in vascular biology and immunology to achieve project goals, which facilitated the completion of 5 projects (published/submitted). • Achieved a 50% reduction in time and cost by implementing new tumor models.
