Project Associate

Greater New York City Area

As a project associate I was responsible for collecting, analyzing, and presenting data in a way that was comprehensible, instantly understandable, and focused so that specific decisions could be supported by my findings. In order to support ongoing and planned projects, part of my role was identifying research priorities prior to analysis in order to coordinate operational and analytical strategies as well as mximizing resource allocation.I always strived to ensure that analyses were accompanied by actionable recommendations based on the findings, for instance with regard to admissions recruitment strategies, course scheduling, and retention strategies. Some of the projects for which I was responsible include:-- Increase course availability: By conducting new research and compiling it with extant analyses, I created a repository of knowledge which connected enrollment patterns, registration issues, space utilization, and room capacity which all underlie the issue of course availability. I was tasked with setting up a taskforce from various departments to address the various issues that came to the surface in the analysis. My primary role was to make sure that the right questions were being asked and the right data was available to answer these questions. -- Science lab demand analysis: Since no measures of unmet demand existed, the first step was to develop metrics to measure it indirectly. By identifying students who were expected to have taken a given course but had not done so and identifying students who took a course at a later point in time than expected, it was possible to derive a minimum and a maximum estimate of unmet demand. Findings strongly suggested that more lab space was needed and actually informed management to plan for the addition of more labs.
