This includes feasibility studies in the expansion of various primary and secondary school across Bracknell. This is common problem for LEA’s across the country with expanding population across the country first with primary schools and then secondary in five years time. • As well as work on education projects for Bracknell Forrest the other area of work I was involved with was as lead designer on two fire station projects for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue. Both sites at Melton Mowbury and Oakham were very different, one was a new build and the other on a very confined site was a full refurbishment back to just the walls and roof structure and extensions. Both sites had to be still fully operation during the works. • Another sector I had been working on was for the MOJ court service. Various options reports and scheme drawings, but the largest scheme was for Bradford Magistrates Court Custody Suite Relocation and New Loading Dock Contract construction value 5M, with an outline planning application for a new office block in central Bradford.

Education work was working on the new Modern Languages Building At Rugby School Warwickshire. Ministry of Justice work was with Galliford Try as there lead architects. But I was also a technical assessor where you are appointed by the MOJ directly as there architect and lead designer. This is where you produce the basic scheme and review the various possible scheme and produce reports back to the Client Representative. Once this has been approved the scheme would progress through to tender, on site and completion.

I have been involved in, Commercial regeneration work in Stoke-on Trent for St Modwen (New Vodafone call centre) and large Housing developments for Kier and Ministry of Justice work with Shallyor group and Galliford Try as there lead architects. The most interesting scheme was a New Crematorium in Hereford as Thomas Vale’s Architect in a Design and Build contract. I took over the scheme on joining RPS from conditional planning approval to completion on site.

I would also act as the Planning Supervisor on other colleagues schemes in the department. I would also provide a Project Manager service for schemes that couldn’t be done in house due to work load commitments as well.Most of my work was education from a small staff room extensions to remodeling a whole primary school. I was involved in designing the government’s first wave of Children’s Centers in Walsall. Due to work pressures of the department, I was project managing the second wave. I was project officer for the council’s 3 year library modernization program. Bloxwich Library was chosen for a lottery a bid, which was eventually successful. Another library was linked to the regeneration of the Bentley area of Walsall. This became an international design competition won by Dutch architects. As part of the job role was to update weekly the progress of all the departments schemes to the central projects office. This then allowed the councilors to see what projects where doing and whether there were problems. Assisting chief architect in looking at new schemes. Attending meetings both design and management committees.I was appointing fellow professionals as the lead professional of the design team in the traditional model. I have also acted as the project manager for schemes where I appointed fellow architects and over saw their work. Also consulting with various professional bodies like Planning and Building control as well external funding providers for schemes i.e the Lottery Fund. Many council schemes are not just funded from central government.
