Assigned as media relations officer in charge for Joint Task Force Guantanamo supervising a team of nine public affairs specialists. Coordinated and facilitated 38 media tours with more than 100 reporters from over 70 international and domestic news agencies including highly-profiled broadcasts by 60 minutes, ABC News, BBC and Al Jazeera. Managed 24-hour operations at the media operations center during military commissions for the accused 9/11 five co-conspirators and USS Cole bombing cases. Collaborated with Office of the Secretary of Defense Public Affairs Officer and Southern Command to ensure validity of mission and messages for the task force. Developed talking points, themes and command messages to coincide with world events impacting operations at Guantanamo. Developed and conducted extensive media engagement training using past experiences, outstanding creativity and a hands-on approach to ensure successful interaction with media outlets. Developed communication approaches to emerging issues by providing broadcasting and video production for the task force to ensure that each program area met the commander’s intent of the task force. Conducted subject matter expert prep for task force commanders conducting interviews with news outlets.

Assisted the commander in the direct supervision, training, health, welfare and discipline for more than 240 Soldiers in the Joint Forces Headquarters. Exclusively asked to participate in overseas mission to Nepal and supervise a public affairs team in support of the Global Peacekeeping Operations Initiative. Used leadership experience and creative skills to produce more than 30 articles and 15 videos highlighting the 86 foreign military officers from 26 countries participating in the training exercise.

Managed all force protection operations for the operating environment in Taji, Iraq. Responsible for supervising Soldiers in charge of perimeter security while protecting 17,000 Soldiers on base. Tactfully responded to over 60 incidents with defensive measures in high threat situations. Coordinated with the Base Defense Operations Center to analyze significant events involving potential threat. Oversaw all entry control points, tower guards, and perimeter security operations. Platoon leader for 29 subordinate Soldiers responsible for their health, welfare, morale, training and safety while deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
