- Led the overall engineering strategy for the team. - Took responsibility for the team during COVID-19 following the departure of the CTO.- Managed to navigate a difficult landscape for the team, where the primary income source (travel) dissipated, avoiding any furlough and kept the team steady.- Developed the framework for growth and hiring.- Took over the product responsibilities whilst the Head of Product (at the time, she was the only team member) was off work for 18 months. - Migrated the company from self certified PCI compliance to L1, by becoming the custodian of the documentation and the participant for UBIO during assessment.- Developed a number of company initiatives to increase collaboration and adapt to the new COVID-19 landscape, such as hackathons- Implemented recurring calls for the engineering team to discuss architecture, infrastructure and reliability matters.

Operational responsibility for:- six Kubernetes clusters- ~100 micro services - 8 Postgres instances- Moved the team over to GitOps methodologies and centralised state management.- Overhauled the observability platform from vendor locked-in solutions to open source alternative (LGTM stack).- Trained the engineering team on instrumentation and deep debugging methods, along with the three pillars of observability.- Reimplemented scaling algorithms based on new metrics and improved reliability of the platform.Supervised a shift-left approach to testing and security with the team, alongside an overhaul of the CI/CD pipelines.- Adopted Terraform and IaC as the primary mechanism for provisioning - and updating - infrastructure.Delivered public speaking engagements around DevOps to community meet-ups and commercial conferences.- Took responsibility for capacity-planning and optimisations.- Produced frameworks for post mortems and near misses.

- Acquired in January 2020- Joined as employee number 3, left when had grown to 40.Inherited a proof of concept monolith in PHP that had successfully attracted funding. Oversaw and implemented a micro service approach to the discrete units, using a blend of PHP, Golang and NodeJS.- Worked primarily across several core applications: orders system, fulfilment, product catalogue and our distributed events system.

- Whilst studying at Newcastle University, I taught myself how to code and program computers. I developed a business around this that I was able to employ five staff members for and grown into a six digit ARR.- Developed an innovative content management system that was visually authored (no code).- Managed customer relationships, requirements and delivery.- Collaborated with external partners to negotiate larger contracts distributed across multiple companies.
