I was responsible for all content creation and ad sales for Slice, a free magazine Blue Pebble directly mailed each quarter to more than 10,000 residents of Southeast Idaho. Because this magazine was primarily intended to provide useful, relevant content about issues that affect quality of life, we focused heavily on health care issues frequently faced by people over… Show more As a co-owner of Blue Pebble Press, I learned a great deal about how to communicate meaningful information to a large audience. I was responsible for all content creation and ad sales for Slice, a free magazine Blue Pebble directly mailed each quarter to more than 10,000 residents of Southeast Idaho. Because this magazine was primarily intended to provide useful, relevant content about issues that affect quality of life, we focused heavily on health care issues frequently faced by people over the age of 40. In order to write the articles, I had to interview physicians, patients, other care providers, and professionals in health-related fields and to synthesize what I learned in a way that produced engaging, valuable content. My work with Slice also taught me how to get other parties interested enough in those issues to want to place ads in our magazine. I love to learn, so this experience was entirely stimulating for me.
