Hello class my name is Andre and I was born and raised in King City Calif. My family migrated from Buffalo, New York and I was the only sibling of 3 to be born in California. My sophomore year we moved 45 minutes north to Salinas to finish high school. After high school I joined the Army National Guard. When basic training ended, I attended Monterey Peninsula College and also played basketball for the college as well. I earned a scholarship to Bethany University and after my first year my Unit was activated due to the 9/11 attacks. Two years later I attended Montana State Northern Univ, but I left back home after the first semester ended. When I returned home, I spent the next semester looking for a college to finish my last year of basketball. A father of a friend from high school asked if I wanted to assist him with coaching an AAU team but when I was introduced to the director of the program, I was introduced as the head coach. As the summer came to a close I made an uneducated decision, between leaving for college or coaching, not understanding that I could have gone to school and coached at the same time.I coached JV at Alvarez High for 4 years and then was an assistant coach at Hartnell College of which both were located in Salinas Calif. I have spent the last 7 years coaching varsity basketball at Pajaro Valley High located in Watsonville Calif. My first varsity position was coaching girls for 2 years and in 16 years of the school's existence the girls varsity had never won more than 5 games in a season and we went to the playoffs in my second season. The following year I switched over to the boys program and had been there for 5 years as well as working in the district as a behavior Tech for special education. I was just hired as the varsity head coach at Alvarez high but because of the pandemic haven’t yet met any of the players on campus. I still currently work as a behavior Tech at Watsonville high.
