I am a Ph.D. analytical chemist with a diverse set of skills ranging from additive manufacturing to cell culture.My Ph.D. work focused on the development and incorporation of 3D printed devices into scientific research. Specifically, I focused on using 3D printed devices for the separation of analytes of biological importance as well as developing platforms for cell co-culture and analysis of cell secretions. During this work, I was able to optimize methods for the incorporation of membranes into PolyJet 3D printed models. A major hurdle in working with PolyJet technologies and fragile membrane systems is the printer’s requirements for support material. By optimizing print geometry and settings within the printer, support free models can be printed and potentially open the door for PolyJet printed microfluidic devices.Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher at Saint Louis University working towards the incorporation of 3D printing technologies for microfluidic applications. Specifically, my focus is on 3D printed chips for electrophoreses, co-culture of various cell lines, and the development of systems for 3D cell culture under flow with real-time analysis.
