I will never forget the first time I successfully replaced a motherboard-level component in order to repair a laptop. It was about 9PM and I was alone in the office when I powered it up and saw the fan start to spin gently. I immediately jumped up and sprinted back and forth across the dark office, pumping my fist like a madman as an outlet to the elation. It had been a several week long project of pouring over schematics, consulting various technical forums and instructional videos, and experimenting with removing various millimeters long components. When it was finally over, I had proven to myself that with enough time and effort, I can accomplish whatever I like, even if the odds are stacked against me. Now, in my work and my education, I chase that feeling.As a former IT professional of 6 years, I'm working to make a move to a career where I can be more creative and create value rather than simply stem the tide of disrepair. I hope to find a way to blend my love of teaching, the outdoors, and learning new skills in a way that leverages my technical knowledge.I have a lot to learn, so I am still unsure what the future holds for me. However, I do know that I will find a job that brings joy, love, and learning into my life!
