Duties and Responsibilities:• Preparation of meals with Filipino staff feeding Portuguese, South African, Australian, and the UK. • Filipino Labourers formed most of the staff. All told 380 people to feed 3 times daily. All nationalities were catered for their own traditional foods. • Ordering of dry goods for 6 months at a time, receiving 6 tons of meat every 3 weeks and a cargo plane full of fruit and veg every two weeks. • Logistics were extreme and had to be very carefully planned to have sufficient to last. • Police clearance, yellow fever and full vaccinations had to be proved along with no criminal record. Duties and Responsibilities:• Home for mentally retarded and handicapped as well as 180-day borders.• Primarily was there to cater for the residents and had 8 of the patients working directly with me in this capacity. Was also involved in the workshop to support those who could do menial work like an assembly line of circuit boards or similar. • Affection, support, caring, compassion, observing behaviour, and earning their trust was a big goal to achieve. Learning to know when and what they required, medication, mood swings, knowing when to step back or when to take immediate action because of urgent medical attention needed. The motivation was also integral in getting patients to be mobile, go for a walk, do a bit of gardening or try to get them to partake in card games or board games for stimulation which was greatly needed. • We also took them to concerts or other outings as well as every year we took a few patients on camping trips.
