Spoken Word Poet, Illustrator, Visual Artist, Educator, and AuthorI am a Middle School English Teacher in NYC. With my poetry and artistic skills, and my experience from my native home of Jamaica and life in the US, my first work of poetry, Time Transcendence – A Collective Awakening, focuses largely on the theme of development by way of education as a community through various circumstances in our lives. My passion for writing and education led to my earning a BA in English and a MS in Literacy. As an artist since the second grade along with my love of writing by the seventh grade has allowed me to engage my students culturally. I believe "curiosity is freedom" and I strive to connect that idea in and out of the classroom as I explore new activities, places, and cultural connections with family and friends.To inspire through words, to guide by example, and to connect lessons, art, and the youth in the classroom continues to be my goal. Keep on radiating in your purposes, assert your ‘why’, know what you do, and how you do it, and remain humble!
