Here's a little history as to how I started in the printing business. Straight out of high school I had no idea as to what I wanted to do. I thought about going into the military but wasn't to crazy about that idea either. So my dad was working for Corporate Press doing maintenance and he got me a part time job doing the same thing. So one day I was ask to paint the prepress department battleship gray I'll never forget it. For a week I was painting this department and when I was done the supervisor came to me and said I like the way you work. Would you be interested in an apprenticeship programs as a platemaker. I did a 4year apprenticeship programs in platemaking on 3rd shift. During this time when there was no work for me to do I went to the strippers asking them question about how to do what they where doing. They started teaching me how to be a stripper and the camera man was teaching me how to operate the camera also. So once I learned how to be a stripper and a camera operator I started stripping jobs when I had nothing else to do. Then years later stripping went from laying negative to computers. So in order to continue to do what I love I had to learn desktop publishing....it goes on and on from there. Learning all the software (Quark, Pagemaker, Photoshop, Creative Suites, etc.). Then I got into Graphic Design, CTP, variable data, I even learned how to run a digital press. I have learn a lot about Prepress and willing to learn more, if there's more to learn. When I have nothing else to do I'm always trying to learn something new. I even learned how to run the mailroom (inkjet machines and envelope inserters)
