Core responsibilities and duties focused within the position of front of house assistant were to provide a reception and corporate front of house service responsible for switchboard provision, post room services, assisting with the security/safeguarding of learners and customers, first aid duties, rooming queries and assistance and general help desk style enquiries for the whole college. Information about college services both internal and to potential external new learners were also provided. Back of office tasks included strict and accurate Alpha filing, maintaining and setting up a central student coursework storage system and the provision of a finance service and associated duties was also carried out. The role was varied and required flexibility and multi-tasking. As we were located within the front entrance of the building duties could change day by day in at times a very busy and pressurised environment. This post has since sadly been made redundant.

Core responsibilities and duties tasked to my role where to provide the centre with clerical support and administrative functions. These included data input of learner enrolment forms, updating attendance figures, maintaining computerised and manual student records and issuing, tracking and monitoring exam paperwork and related filing systems and associated administrative practices. Other duties were to provide IT trouble shooting at workstations within a large learning centre (60+) PC's, and through enquiries generated within the school help desk. This role was based within a strongly focused area of both combined customer services and a statistical data environment.

My main duties were to provide clerical support to a team of student service administrators based directly inside a student Halls of Residence complex. This role focused mainly on a front of house enquiry counter where I provided advice and support on questions of accommodation letting issues and hospitality stays and terms of residencies. Welcoming new learning into the halls, issuing of keys, cash handling and a postal service for learners and tenants was also provided. As this role was located within a residential setting it, at times required flexibility and sensitivity to clients.
