At the University of Maine I am the founder and director of the CompuMAINE Lab (ComputationalModeling, Analysis of Imagery and Numerical Experiments). My work has been published in journalssuch as Medical Physics, PLoS Genetics, Surface Science, Astrophysical Journal, Chromosome Research, PLoS One, and PLoS Biology. Biomedical applications include breast cancer diagnostics tools (which has led to a patent application), cell nucleus architecture, regenerative medicine, muscle cell morphogenesis, and the analysis of complex Electro-Encephalographic (EEG) data embedded in high levels of noise. Through these efforts, the CompuMAINE Lab is working with many research groups in biological sciences, medicine, bioengineering, ecology, psychology, chemical engineering, radiology, physics and astronomy, with collaborators within the University of Maine, at The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, ME (where I hold an adjunct position), as well as a multitude of other national and international groups in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New Jersey, Idaho, New Mexico, California, Canada, France, Germany, UK, and Russia.After ten years at the University of Maine (2005-2015) and under an academic year contract allocating 60% of my time for teaching and 40% for research, I will have trained 13 thesis students (2 PhDs, 8 Masters, and 3 undergraduate Honors) while maintaining an average scholarshipproductivity of ~4 publications per year, ~6 grant proposals submitted per year (with a funding rate of 39%), and ~5 local, national and international presentations per year, including invited or keynote presentations at research institutions such as Imperial College, London, McGill University, Montreal, Ludwig-Maximilians University, Munich, École Normale Supérieure de Lyon, France, and Heidelberg University, Germany.
