As National Facilities Manager, I am responsible for a property portfolio made up of 340 retail, commercial and industrial properties, a large FM team, 4.9million sqm and a portfolio valued at ZAR72.8 billion.Responsibilities include:• Providing leadership across all facilities operations, establishing long term business and operational plans as well as short term goals and objectives.• Implementing and maintaining organisational best practices with a strong focus on compliance, safety and value creation.• Setting out management strategies for the group, ensuring all legislative and statutory requirements are met along with policies and procedures.• Providing leadership and strategic guidance to the development of a national security and emergency response strategy to ensure assets and stakeholders can operate in a secure environment.• Developing budgets and capital programs, tracking all financials to ensure all services are delivered within agreed budgets and service levels. • Establishing close working relationships with internal divisions such as legal, development and finance to ensure an integrated and seamless operation is achieved across the organisation. • Creating a technical services assurance program and associated schedules in compliance with globally acceptable standards, identifying opportunities for performance improvements and KPI’s. • Managing multi-disciplinary teams to achieve operational standards and success as well as resolving any areas of conflict.
