Conduct duties of a chief safety officer as set out in the legislation.Conduct regular safety inspection in the opencast and Underground Mining operations.Conduct regular OHSAS 18001 internal audits in the operations.Ensure compliance to Standards, rules and procedures of the Company.Conduct investigations in safety accidents and incidents.Ensure that the company retains its OHSAS 18001 certification by monitoring all requirements and ensuring that these are met. Keep up to date with all required legislative changes and developments ensuring that these are implemented in the company. Maintain effective implementation by ongoing training and communication related to the Health and Safety Management system.

• Assist the Group Health and Safety Manager to ensure effective coordination of safety between mines, head offices and Gas & Power. • Ensure that the company retains its OHSAS 18001 certification by monitoring all requirements and ensuring that these are met. • Keep up to date with all required changes and developments ensuring that these are implemented in the company. • Maintain effective implementation by ongoing training and communication related to the Health and Safety Management system.
