I'm grateful to have grown up with parents who took the time to embed empathy for others into me, they have always challenged me to put myself in the shoes of others and that mindset has become an important part of who I am. From my upbringing, I've fostered a strong desire to understand humanity as a whole and within its many individualized segments. As an undergraduate, liberal studies broadened my horizons by looking at multiple facets of ancient world histories, languages and philosophies. I was then able to apply these learnings to our modern world when I worked as a consultant for Canadian Heritage and analyzed requests for funding from small, local non profits. During my university studies, I was working as a tree planter throughout the province of BC and after working for Canadian Heritage, the great outdoors beckoned me. Coupled with surveying and brushing work, I was able to fulfill my desire for the outdoors. Tree planting was my most common occupation during this period, and because it is a physically and mentally strenuous job that pays based on production, I would best describe tree planting as being industrial athleticism. My experience in this line of work has given me a solid work ethic and a strong ability to focus.Even though I still love the great outdoors, over the past few years, I've been hit with the desire to apply my focus and mental power to be challenged in a cerebral and creative way. I want to expand on my previous analysis and research experience that I have gained through my studies and through my work as a program consultant for Canadian Heritage. I want to tackle problems with technological solutions in order to contribute to the betterment of our world.
