Responsible for the Research & Development part of the Beer Membrane Filter as before at Norit, but with an added responsibility on the New Product Development. The development of the filtration installation (process engineering), membrane module design, project management and (standard) documentation was lead by the group of R&D Beverage together with other departments and external suppliers. Therefor the group was increased up to 6 employees total with a lot of cross functional work within and outside the company.Resuming: working in food & beverage (EHEDG, hygienic); working with natural products (beer, wine, polysaccharides, polyphenols and proteins); working with cleaning agents (oxidation, enzymatic, caustic and acid); working with membranes (PES, MF, UF and NF); working with design (P&ID, technical drawings, process descriptions); bringing products to market (design, pilot and full-scale trials, customer); New Product Development (engineering, operations/production, injection molding, casting, stainless steel, plastics); working with external parties and projects (ISPT, universities), it is all in there.

Hengelo & Enschede

Responsible for the Research & Development Beverage part of the Beer Membrane Filter as new cleaning methods / suitable stabilizing agents like PVPP and silica gel / influence raw materials on filterability and cleanability / process design like crossflow velocity, (chemical) backflush, filtration flux with own research group, but also with external parties. In this period the group increased from 2 to 4 employees (College to PhD level) including all the necessary changes in responsibilities within the group. Also projects across the different R&D groups (Membranes, Modules, Water) were done when different experience was needed.Further working on installation & skid design with suppliers and other internal departments like engineering, project management, automation and operations / research projects with (external) parties like other companies, universities and institutes / business development other products / markets.

Hengelo & Enschede

Piloting of bright beer filtration by polymer PES/PVP membranes in breweries and on lab-scale including cleaning and stabilization methods and process parameters, which led to first scale-up of the so-called BMF (Beer Membrane Filter) in 2002/2003. In the period 2003/2004 working as a commissioning engineer of the first Norit BMF plants and process engineering for new full-scale plants.

Almelo

Working on capillary polymer (PES) membrane modules of (engineered) plastics and stainless steel in the area of injection molded products, engineering, construction of proto-types/first series, drawings, seal construction, epoxy resin for use in water and beverages.

Haaksbergen

Working on Mechanical Vapour Recompression for low energy conversion of used poly styreen (styrofoam) to re-usable poly styreen.
