Key responsibilities include:- Tracking and assessing policies related to alternative response models, call allocation, and community safety across city, county, state, and national levels.- Conducting research on public safety models for crisis response nationwide, identifying best practices, and recommending policy changes to enhance community safety.- Managing the Public Safety Call Allocation & Staffing Study and leading policy development projects.- Acting as a liaison to policy-making bodies, such as the Local Public Safety Coordinating Council (LPSCC) and the Transforming Justice Project.- Collaborating with the City’s Office of Government Relations to align community safety initiatives with broader policy goals.- Developing and implementing a communications plan to engage stakeholders and inform them on community safety issues.

- Building and mobilizing coalitions of supporters, community advocates, organizations, nonprofits, faith institutions, businesses, neighborhood groups, and other key stakeholders to support our office's policy priorities.- Creating comprehensive outreach plans to facilitate community education and gather input.- Promoting a culture of transparency and collaboration in developing policy proposals with community members.- Recommending public policy changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.- Implementing and evaluating city-funded programs and projects.- Assisting the Communication Strategist as needed, including editing press releases, drafting statements, creating social media content, and more.- Acting as the elected official's liaison on issues related to public safety, gun violence, and houselessness.
