Providing Operations & Maintenance Services as Plant Manager at Caribbean Blue Skies Energy Limited for a client who owns a Combined Heat and Power Facility that provides electricity to the national grid and steam to a major bauxite industry in Jamaica. His prior roles include Director JPS for both the Hunts Bay and Rockfort Power Plants with Five Major Generation Assets, accounting for 162.5 MW of installed capacity. These technologies include two (2) slow speed generation units, one (1) medium steam-generating unit and two open cycle gas turbines. He previously held the position as Manager for the Generation Technical Services (GTS) department at JPS for seven (7) years where he developed and executed strategies in the maintenance of JPS’ Thermal Asset Generation fleet.Previous roles included that as Acting Maintenance Manager, Mechanical Engineer - Head of the Mechanical Maintenance Department at the JPS Hunts Bay Power Station for six (6) years. During this period, he was the assigned Project Manager for various overhauls for turbines, generators and other major assets. His tenure during the period 2001 to 2004 was in the capacity as Operations Engineer responsible for monitoring and maintaining the critical operational parameters of the Power Plant’s generation assets. Education: He is a graduate Mechanical Engineer from the Higher Polytechnic Institute, Jose Antonio Echeverria, Havana, Cuba. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) for Finance Managers from the University of Manchester, UK.Professional Organizations: He is a Registered Professional Engineer (PE) and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)His skill sets and competencies: He was amongst the first graduates from the JPS iLead Programme at the JPS Leadership Academy in 2016; the recipient of the Generation Leadership Award in 2012; completed a Management Development Programme – MSB, UWI 2012. Others include, Red Belt Certification in the Engagement & Culture Program; Advanced Project Management Certification; Vibration Analysis I & II Certified; Writes and reads Spanish well. His significant contribution over the years has been through the use of specialized McrAly coatings on gas turbine engine parts and the optimization of their asset life cycles within the generation division to manage Type I and Type II Hot Corrosion on Gas Turbines.
