As a maintenance engineer for the Boiler Engineering department my main responsibility is to ensure the reliability, maintainability, and operability of the entire boiler plant including the auxiliary systems. This includes main steam & pressure parts piping (super heated and high pressure), rotating equipment, draught plant, hydraulic lubrication oil systems (low pressure), Fabric filter plant as well as the smaller components within these system like heat exchangers, valves, bearings and filters.This responsibility involves creating short term and long term maintenance scopes and the planning thereof, data analysis to identify possible failure of components, performing failure and unit trip investigations and identifying the root causes thereof and designing and implementing modifications to existing plant to increase efficiency and reliability of the 40 year old units.Some of my other responsibilities include:-Boiler Engineering department lead on various projects and outages-Boiler Engineering department draught plant system engineer-Boiler Engineering department flue gas cleaning system engineer-Development of maintenance strategies on specific plant areas -Optimizing maintenance strategies when plant failure occur to ensure a reliable system with the correct preventative maintenance activities.-Working standby and assisting the operating and maintenance team after hours with major mechanical breakdowns and process optimization which requires knowledge of the entire plant.
