About André Sobolewski
I left my consultancy in 2022 to found Blue Skies Minerals. The company will decarbonize the mining industry by storing atmospheric carbon permanently in mining waste. Our approach is transformational because it eliminates their two key liabilities: the need to build tailings dams and the long-term release of contaminants from reactive waste.Previous to this, I founded Microbial Technologies in 1991 and pioneered the use of biological systems to cleanse polluted waters. I developed expertise in assessing impacts from proposed industrial activity and developing innovative water treatment systems from mining, forest and petrochemical industries. I participated in over 100 mining projects, evaluated potential impacts from proposed mine developments and managed their contaminated waters. Throughout this time, my allegiance has been to the environment and good science, whether working on behalf of industry, government, indigenous people or non-governmental organizations.
