Andre K. Wright, our Founder and Executive Director, has worked with children for over 15 years as a counselor, mentor, and athletic coach and was an inspirational college level player in his well-rounded and long term achievement. His drive to coach and mentor youth grew from a lifelong love of basketball and principled fundamental skill development. As a youth player, Andre’s dedication to fundamentals and leadership earned him the McDonalds All-American nomination in 1997 and became the recipient of the Markward award for athletic excellence in the same year. After graduating from Benjamin Franklin High School, Andre played for legendary coach Larry Conti at Community College of Philadelphia before transfering to Neumann College. While playing for Neumann, Andre earned recognition as a P.A.C. 1st Team All-Conference selection (2005, 2006) and became Neumann College’s Basketball Team Captain (2005, 2006). Andre also was coach nominated as the team’s MVP in both 2005 and 2006, as he finished with 1,260 career points placing him at 8th all-time at Neumann. After College, Andre served at Stan Jones Prep High School as head coach and instituted mandatory study halls for players. Andre was fortunate to lead Stan Jones Prep students to three championship contending seasons. Andre is proud Give and Go Wright Athletics has been successful enough to run as a full time venture; supporting a membership of over 120 students, providing workouts and clinics to students ages 5-17 as well as summer camps and youth events throughout the year.
