•Provides professional nursing care to cardiac surgical patients through skillful assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with hospital policies and procedures and works collaboratively with the Cardiothoracic surgeon and Advanced Care Providers to achieve optimum patient care for the surgical patient. •Develops and utilizes the care plan as a comprehensive, individualized communication tool; identifies realistic patient goals; evaluates and revises care plans as patient condition requires. •Provides and assesses effectiveness of patient and family education. •Assists in the development of policies, evidence based procedures, and standards. •Plans and presents educational programs. •Assists with leadership aspects of the unit. •Assists with development goals and objectives, plans and presents in-service programs, staff meetings, and supervises and evaluates patient care. •Participates with performance improvement activities.

•Provides professional nursing care and assists with treatments, therapies and procedures to cardiothoracic surgery patients through skillful assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with hospital policies and procedures and works collaboratively with members of the medical staff to provide optimum patient care for the surgical patient. •Knowledgeable in surgeries including but not limited to heart and lung transplant, CABG, valve repairs, heart port and minimally invasive procedures, aneurysm repairs, VAD implants and ex-plants, ECMO, TAVI and TEVAR. •Administers and monitor numerous cardiac and sedation medications while effectively monitoring and interpreting hemodynamics •Closely monitors critical patient and able to effectively note status changes and able to respond quickly and promptly to changes in condition. •Trained in Thoratec BiVAD, Centrimag BiVAD, Heartmate II LVAD, Heartware LVAD, Impella 5.0, Balloon Pump, CVVHD and other integral devices

•Provides professional nursing care to telemetry patients through skillful assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with hospital policies and procedures and works collaboratively with surgeons, cardiologists and hospitalists to achieve optimum patient care •Closely monitors effectiveness of IV drip cardiac medications and Insulin drips, as well as the effectiveness of medications. •Closely monitors telemetry for acute arrhythmia changes and alerts the doctor •Prepares patients for procedures such as TEE, Echocardiograms, stress testing and cardiac catheterizations.

•Worked with three classes of cardiac rehab patients developing exercise prescriptions based on the American College of Sports Medicine’s (ACSM) guidelines and equations •Knowledgeable on current exercise information and ACSM guidelines •Leading exercise classes of 20 or more patients •Continuous EKG monitoring via telemetry and 12-Lead •Blood pressure assessments, body composition analysis, and patient education.
