It’s not every day you wake up and start doing the thing that will turn out to be the rest of your professional life.But when it comes to translation, this is exactly what happened to me. The key detail here though being that it chose me (as opposed to the other way around). Strap in and let me share:I was working on an assignment in the beautiful city of Zurich. The notarisation deadline was looming, and the translation team in place was struggling to maintain the pace needed to finish on time.I was asked to step in and help, and fell in love with it instantly.Translation is something that gives me a deep sense of joy and satisfaction whenever I’m called upon, and I feel blessed at the thought.Fast-forward 30 years, and I can say – hand-on-heart – that I’ve had the privilege of working with some fantastic industry stakeholders, be they translation house MDs, superstar project managers and even mission-critical government entities.I wouldn’t swap this professional experience for the world.Today, I am more focused than ever on working with great customers; it’s where my heart is at.And if the translation world isn’t beckoning, you’ll find me on the golf course (my absolute passion in life, alongside family, friends and enjoying a “Campari Spritz” and nibbles, all accompanied by a stunning view).
