About Andrea Capurro

I am a strategic leader and environmental policy advisor with a diverse background in ocean conservation, governance, and international collaboration. My work focuses on navigating complex global challenges, building consensus among diverse stakeholders, and driving science-based policy solutions that address climate resilience and ecosystem protection. In my most recent role as Chief of Program Staff at The Ocean Foundation, I partnered closely with the President to design and implement operational strategies, manage program delivery, and align initiatives with organizational goals. I led and worked collaboratively with cross-functional teams while honing expertise in nonprofit governance, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and process optimization within a mission-driven context.Prior to this, I spent over six years as a lead Argentine scientist and policy advisor on a proposal to establish a marine protected area in the Antarctic Peninsula, one of the world’s most vulnerable ecosystems. In this capacity, I collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to balance conservation needs with socio-economic considerations, a critical endeavor given the accelerating impacts of climate change. My six expeditions to Antarctica have been transformative, providing deep insights into the region's unique governance system, complex logistics, and the significance of building consensus among diverse international actors.I am passionate about advocating for scalable conservation solutions that strengthen ocean resilience in the face of global warming. As I seek senior leadership roles, I aim to leverage my experience in environmental strategy, cross-sector collaboration, and high-level policy advisory to drive impactful change for our planet’s most critical ecosystems.
