    At YES Canada we provide study abroad programs for high school students to countries all over the world! Students are given the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in a brand new culture, language and environment while living with a host family and attending a host high school in their country of choice.I am the local coordinator for the Near North District School Board (North Bay and area), along with the Trillium Lakelands District School Board (Muskoka region).I recruit and interview suitable families in the area who wish to open their home to an international high school student. Then provide monthly support and monitoring to both host and student. Also, I am responsible for the recruitment of local students who are interested in a study abroad program.

    I completed six years teaching Grade 7/8 in Moose Factory, Ontario at Delores D. Echum Composite School (Grade 7-12). During my six years in Moose Factory, I gained valuable experience both professionally and personally. Professionally, working in an isolated community, enabled me to focus on my work, and become a disciplined, organized, and focused teacher. Aside from regular classroom duties, I had the great opportunity to take part in various outdoor education trips, assist with timetable and scheduling, act as manager to our Jr. Girls Basketball team, organize and fundraise for a first-ever Grade 8 Trip to Toronto, and bring the community into the classroom through cultural events, guest speakers, and youth workshops. Also, I had the privilege of working very closely with community elders both in and out of the classroom.
