Words matter.It’s what I tell my kids when they’re bickering in the back seat and the motto I remind myself of before I comment on my mum’s cooking (which for the record is usually delicious, bar a few notable exceptions that forged the childhood bond between my brothers and I).My respect for the gut punch that words can pack has driven me to a career in journalism and communications. Over the past two decades, I’ve consistently sought to create messaging with meaning – turning concepts into stories that inspire action and change. I have experience in not-for-profit and consumer communications, and a passion for the healthcare sector and the environment. Over the course of my career, I’ve developed a broad range of skills, with strengths in verbal and written communications. I have extensive experience in developing and executing internal and external communication strategies. I am adept at media management – maintaining stakeholder relations and managing media relations both proactively and in crisis situations. I have proven success in crafting media releases that get widespread pick-up and have an excellent sense of what stories will cut through in a crowded media environment.I enjoy working collaboratively and constructively and believe in the power of filling people’s buckets to achieve better outcomes at an individual and collective level.
