The Homeowner Advocacy Project (the “Project”) was created through a three-year grant from the Arizona Attorney General’s office for the purpose of working with homeowners facing wrongful foreclosure or were victimized by mortgage fraud. Served as the assistant director responsible for the daily operations of the Project.

Legal extern in the Solicitor General's Office. Assignments include drafting motion to dismiss, and researching legal issues related to current civil cases within the office.

This clinic takes pro bono cases in civil litigation matters. Assignments include performing intake for potential new cases; researching and drafting memos with recommendations whether to take cases or not; represent clients in unemployment insurance cases, landlord/tenant disputes, and other civil matters. Currently staffing four cases.

Assignments included researching legal issues related to current cases within the office. Worked with Bankruptcy and Litigation sections of the office.This internship is part of the Maricopa Bar Association/Arizona Bar Association Minority Legal Writing Program. Internship included weekly seminars by participating law firms on issues related to private practice in medium and large firms.

Assignments included researching legal issues related to current cases and issues within the office as well as legal questions from the Mesa City Council; drafting legal memo for various attorneys within the office; and creating a matrix for attorneys working on revision of city zoning ordinance to ensure all provisions within the ordinance were addressed.

Legal extern in the Special Civil Litigation Section. Assignments included researching legal issues related to current civil cases within the office; drafting subpoenas and public record requests.

Served as day-to-day press contact for the Arizona Attorney General's Office and spokeswoman for Attorney General Terry Goddard. Drafted press releases, edited various brochures, annual reports and fliers for the office; drafted talking points and prepared briefing materials for AG Goddard. Contacted local stakeholders interested in media issues related to the Attorney General's Office.Worked with AG Goddard and members of his executive management team on media issues related to the office. This required learning and understanding the complex legal issues related to lawsuits and settlements announced by the office.

Assistant to three City Councilmembers. Duties included working with Mesa residents to resolve issues regarding city services in their neighborhoods, drafting correspondence for Councilmembers, drafting talking points for various functions and preparing briefing materials for meetings. Member of citywide team working with residents to resolve noise issues related to the opening of the Red Mountain Freeway. Member of the City of Mesa’s staff team prepared Mesa’s proposal for a stadium site submitted to the Tourism and Sports Authority. Created and edited collateral materials used to promote the City’s proposal.

Responsible for the formulation and implementation of NASA Daniel Goldin’s travel schedule. Served as liaison with Congressional staff, schools, NASA program and field offices to plan events and meetings that supported the Administrator’s message and the Agency’s mission. Also served as writer for NASA documents including FY1999 Performance Plan and revision of the NASA Strategic Plan.

Responsible for identifying candidates for sub-cabinet appointments made by the President to federal agencies and federal boards and commissions. Responsible for natural resources portfolio which included the Departments of Agriculture, Energy, Environmental Protection, Federal Emergency Management, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, NASA and Transportation.

Responsible for the formulation and implementation of Mr. Curtis’ daily and travel schedule. Reviewed all meeting requests and invitations received by Mr. Curtis. Coordinated all domestic and international trips, drafted talking points, coordinated and drafted briefing materials.
