Andrea Gelzer MD is a physician and accomplished c-suite health care executive. She is a trusted industry voice, who through her consultancy, Qual-IT Strategies, provides strategic guidance to companies on a wide range of issues She has broad experience as a corporate chief medical officer in a number of provider and payer settings and she has extensive experience in evolving care models and alternative value-based health care payment models. She has special interests in health information technology, technology enabled care, integrated health care, health equity, social barriers to care, and accountability. She has expansive managed care experience across all product lines and contemporary relationships with federal entities and industry leaders. Andrea has extensive P+L and executive management experience and has been directly responsible for a vertical of more than 600 associates. She also has comprehensive health plan quality program experience and has been accountable for building clinical services infrastructure and programs to sustain rapid, large growth. During the course of her tenure at AmeriHealth Caritas, revenues grew from $4.6B to more than $18B, and membership grew from 500,000 to more than 5 million.She has transitioned from executive management to governance and currently serves on or has previously served as a corporate director for both for profit and not for profit boards. She has extensive real world perspectives and insights and is a published author and frequent speaker at national forums.Andrea is currently an independent member of the board of directors of the ATA (the American Telemedicine Association) and also at Commonwealth Care Alliance, in Boston. She has experience on a variety of influential national and industry committees including the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Committee on Performance Measurement, the Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Care Payment and Learning Network (LAN) Executive Forum, the Coordinating Committee of the Measures Application Partnership (MAP), the National Advisory Council for Healthcare Research and Quality, and the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). She has also recently served as co-chairman of the executive committee of the Gravity Project, the HL7 FHIR accelerator to develop consensus standards for electronic social determinants of health data. She is the past chairman of the board of directors of HSX, HealthShare Exchange, and she is currently a strategic advisor for Epstein, Becker and Green, as well as for Amaterus Capital.
