Chief Executive Officer of High Sierra Area Health Education Center (High Sierra AHEC), an organization whose purpose is to meet the needs of the communities it serves through robust community-academic partnerships, with a focus on recruiting, training, and developing the state of Nevada’s healthcare workforce. With over a decade of comprehensive nonprofit management within the healthcare and public health sector I have lead an award winning organization and have been recognized for a high motivation level, the ability to promote and exemplify leadership, and for making significant contributions within the community. High Sierra AHEC activities are innovative and aim to improve health care workforce distribution, diversity, and transformation of health care delivery and improving access to rural and underserved patient populations. I have a certificate in nonprofit management and am currently leading several efforts within the organization that will help to transform its organizational culture; continuing efforts that focus on blossoming possibilities, impact, and sustainability. Current projects/collaborations include: CHW Pre-apprentice program (Level Up!), COVID-19 Education and Outreach Campaigns targeting marginalized and vulnerable patient populations, COVID-19 Pregnancy Surveillance via the CDC, Health Equity/Literacy initiatives, Nevada Cultural Competency Training for licensed medical facilities and in response to NRS 449, and statewide workforce development for k-12+ programming to advance workforce equity and improve our states workforce shortages. In addition, this position works with any other funding agency that High Sierra AHEC may contract with and/or provide services to. Under the direction of the Center’s Board of Directors, the Executive Director will oversee all High Sierra AHEC operations and activities and ensure that the Center’s goals, objectives, and funding requirements are met.
